The Ministry of Environment recognized Grupo CPT's maritime subsidiary for the rigorous measurement and quantification of its emissions, consolidating its leadership in sustainability within the national shipping industry.
In a new step forward for sustainability in the country's maritime industry, CPT Towage Peru was awarded the second star of the official Carbon Footprint program, a recognition granted by the Ministry of Environment of Peru (MINAM). With this distinction, the company, part of Grupo CPT, positions itself as the first company in the tugboat sector in Peru to achieve this level of environmental certification.
Obtaining this second star certifies compliance with strict international technical standards for measuring, verifying, and quantifying the environmental impact derived from its port and towing operations.
Advancement in Sector Standards
MINAM's recognition evaluates organizations that not only calculate their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions but also implement rigorous reporting and monitoring systems to ensure transparent management of their resources.
The company highlighted that this achievement reaffirms Grupo CPT's roadmap to develop more efficient, responsible operations aligned with the most demanding environmental regulations at a regional level.
"This milestone motivates us to continue promoting concrete initiatives that reduce our environmental impact and generate positive value in the countries where we operate," stated the firm, congratulating the performance of the technical team responsible for the project in Peru.
With this certification, CPT Towage Peru sets a precedent in the field of maritime and port services in the country, promoting the adoption of sustainable practices in an industry crucial for Peruvian foreign trade.
