In an integrated effort, the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (SENASA) and the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of Chile carried out vehicle inspections at the 51st edition of the Argentine-Chilean Brotherhood Car Race in the city of Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego province.
The procedure was concentrated at the strategic geographical point - La Arcillosa - on National Route 3, and consisted of inspecting the 56 vehicles participating in the car race, as well as their equipment, in order to prevent the transport of unauthorized animal and/or plant products and by-products by both countries.
Agents from the Plant Protection and Agri-Food Safety and Quality Coordination of the Patagonia Sur Regional Center participated, sharing inspection activities with agents from the trans-Andean sanitary service and personnel from other institutions such as the Secretariat of Civil Protection, Road Safety, the Provincial Police, and the Ministries of Citizen Welfare and Justice, and Health who contributed to the organization to ensure the event took place under safe conditions.
The importance of this type of inspection, in addition to preserving the sanitary status of the region, lies in the strengthening of joint and integrated work with the sanitary authorities of Chile's SAG over time.
It should be noted that those wishing to enter Chile must declare under oath, using a form available in digital format, whether they are carrying in their clothing or luggage (suitcases, bags, backpacks, boxes, purses, among others), products, parts and/or by-products of plant and/or animal origin and/or products used in silvo-agricultural activities (regardless of the quantity or the time since they were obtained).
The process is free and can be completed up to one day before arrival in Chile from a mobile device or by scanning the QR codes available at entry points.
Meanwhile, for passengers entering Argentina from Chile or other countries, SENASA recommends informing themselves about the animal and plant products authorized for entry according to Resolution 295/1999.
