The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy of the Nation reports, according to the analysis of the Directorate of Swine, Poultry and Farm Animals with data provided by the SIF-SIGICA system, that pork production accumulated just over 592,000 tons in the first eight months of the year, representing an increase of 12.4% compared to the same period last year.
This substantial increase is based on greater productive investments, expanding the installed capacity of farms and the number of sows, in addition to the strengthening of existing sanitary plans, especially the New National Plan for the Control and Eradication of Aujeszky's Disease.
In this context, a consumption of approximately 20 kg per inhabitant per year is highlighted, which represents a record. Even more so considering that pork consumption has almost tripled, based on data from the last two decades.
In line with the above, it is important to note that a report prepared by INTI Carnes on the quality, benefits and advantages of incorporating pork into the regular diet has already been completed. There, five traditional cuts that were evaluated to determine their protein, mineral and nutritional values are compared and supported with technical arguments. This will undoubtedly serve as another tool to reinforce and promote increased consumption and the growth of the sector.
