The Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA) hosted members of the Environment, Sustainable Development, and Sanitary Services Commission of the General Pueyrredon Deliberative Council in Mar del Plata this Thursday. They participated in a presentation on the institution's functions and tasks in the city, the region, and the rest of the country.

The meeting took place at the Force's headquarters, located at Avenida de los Pescadores 851, in the city's port area, and included council members from various political parties.

The council members were received by the head of the Mar del Plata Prefecture, Prefecto Mayor José Cristian Abel Vigano. They then attended a presentation by the head of the dependency's Search and Rescue and Environmental Protection Station, Prefecto Héctor Rojas, and the head of the local Maritime Traffic Management Center, Prefecto Claudio Moretti.

During the session, the main operational, control, and safeguarding tasks carried out by the National Maritime Authority were discussed. Additionally, the protocol applied by the Prefecture for the protection of whales and other marine fauna species was reviewed, with the purpose of contributing to their preservation and ensuring navigation safety.

The activity strengthened institutional ties between the Maritime Authority and the Deliberative Council, as well as fostering the exchange of knowledge and experiences, raising awareness of the PNA's institutional mission, and promoting participation in environmental care.
