The Port Authority of Puerto Madryn participated in the 2026 Blue Economy Conference at its facilities, where it presented the process it has been developing to incorporate the principles of the Blue Ports Initiative into port management.
Among the main advances highlighted were the progressive incorporation of economic, environmental, social, and governance axes into port planning; the reformulation of the institutional Policy and Mission; and the progress towards ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety certifications, complementing the management system certified under ISO 9001.
These actions are framed within the guidelines promoted by Governor Ignacio "Nacho" Torres' administration to strengthen the competitiveness, modernization, and sustainable development of the province's productive sectors.
The presentation was given by Dante De Bunder, Institutional Relations and Blue Ports Manager of the APPM, who participated in the panel "Competitiveness Agenda for the Blue Economy: infrastructure, energy, and productive scale."
The panel also included Raúl Podetti, naval engineer and consultant; Yolanda Molares, senior fisheries consultant and member of the FAO Blue Ports Initiative team; and Prefect Maximiliano Buso Vega, representative of the Argentine Naval Prefecture at the technical working group of the national Blue Ports initiative.
During the presentation, the journey undertaken by the APPM was showcased, from the 2024 Blue Economy Conference, when the incorporation into Blue Ports was proposed as a project, to the current transformation process, which has progressively consolidated through the work of the organism's different areas and the participation of actors from the port and local community.
The APPM's participation allowed for demonstrating the evolution of a project that began to take shape two years ago and is currently moving towards its institutionalization, with the aim of consolidating a more competitive, sustainable, and integrated port with its community.
