During the tour, the Prefecto General learned about the operational conditions of the station and the activities carried out on board, related to pilotage, communications, and the management of vessel movements entering and exiting the Río de la Plata Basin.
It should be noted that "Recalada" is a strategic point for commercial navigation and is part of the operational scheme of the Río de la Plata Vessel Traffic Service (VTS), through which Prefectura, in its capacity as the national Maritime Authority, contributes to traffic management and navigation safety.
In this regard, the station plays a fundamental role in the embarkation and disembarkation of pilots who assist vessels transiting this waterway, characterized by intense commercial vessel traffic and where pilotage is mandatory.
Likewise, due to its offshore location, maintaining the crew requires specific logistics for reliefs and supplies. On this occasion, these tasks were carried out by the Coast Guard vessel GC-25 "AZOPARDO", which ensured the operational continuity of the station.
The visit highlighted the commitment, preparation, and professionalism of Prefectura personnel who perform their duties uninterruptedly at this strategic point, contributing to the safe, orderly, and fluid development of navigation.
