APM Terminals Suape officially commenced operations in Brazil with the reception of its first commercial vessel, the container ship Maersk Ganges, which is 255 meters long, 37.3 meters wide, and registered under the Brazilian flag.
"The commissioning of this terminal provides key capacity to meet demand in a growing market," communicated the independent port operator, which is part of the Danish maritime and logistics conglomerate A.P. Moller – Maersk.

In its first phase, the facilities have an operational capacity of up to 400,000 TEU per year, representing a 55% increase in container handling capacity within the Suape Port Complex.
The new infrastructure will serve the ALCT2 cabotage service twice a week, connecting Suape with the ports of Pecém, Salvador, Santos, Itapoá, Rio Grande, and Imbituba.
With an investment of approximately 390 million dollars, "the facility is positioned as the first fully electrified container terminal in Latin America," APM Terminals emphasized.
"Designed from its inception to operate larger draft vessels, it aims to offer a safe and efficient service, while also enabling users to reduce emissions in their supply chains," it added.
"Beyond the arrival of this first vessel, the project increases connectivity capacity and commercial opportunities for users and the industry in northeastern Brazil," concluded the port operator.
