Nearly 4,000 people participated in Kai Jai, or Port of Bilbao Day, organized by the Bilbao Port and Estuary Foundation, which celebrated its eleventh edition yesterday, Sunday, next to the fishing port of Santurtzi.
"It has been a very special Kai Jai to celebrate it in Santurtzi, next to the docks where we carry out a large part of our activity. We have had a spectacular reception from the residents of the municipality and other towns in Bizkaia who came to enjoy a recreational day. We have welcomed entire families, groups of friends, and people of all ages to enjoy this annual event with us, with which we aim to bring our activity closer to the public in a fun way," the organization stated.
During the day, there were games, inflatables, workshops, and continuous entertainment. One of the most highly valued activities was the guided tours of the Port of Bilbao to learn firsthand about the spaces and the work carried out in this logistics, commercial, and industrial hub of reference in the Atlantic Arc. "All our buses were full. The Port is of interest, and it shows in the acceptance we have had. We have informed those who could not take the tour that they can do so any weekend by registering through our website for the Ezagutu Portua program. We want to be an open and accessible port," commented the Port Authority.
During the day, awards were presented to the winners of the Story and Logo Contest for the Ezagutu Portua program for schoolchildren.
