The Port of Tarragona Archive successfully held the third edition of the Territori Arxiu Conference, a meeting dedicated to reflecting on archives, heritage, memory, and new forms of engagement with society. The conference brought together 55 participants from the four Catalan demarcations, a fact that consolidates the regional outreach of this event and establishes it as a national forum for debate on archival science.
The conference was inaugurated by the President of the Port of Tarragona, Santiago Castellà, and the Director General of Cultural Heritage of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Joaquim Borràs i Gómez. The program included an inaugural lecture by Ingrid Guardiola and presentations by Cesc F. Dalmases, Roger Surroca, Romy Artigues i Clark, Joana Zapata, Maria Lluïsa Pujol i Canals, and Noelia Ramos i Espinosa, who offered diverse perspectives on memory, archaeology, cinema, cartography, and archives.
The organization highly values the conference and especially highlights that, for the first time, there was representation from all four Catalan demarcations, a fact that demonstrates the consolidation of Territori Arxiu as a national meeting and debate forum.
During the closing remarks, the role of archives as living, open, and society-connected spaces was emphasized, capable of generating knowledge, dialogue, and new interpretations of the past to help us better understand the present and envision the future.
The full recording of the III Territori Arxiu Conference will soon be available on the Port of Tarragona Archive's YouTube channel.
