The 'Cor del Port', a committee to promote collaboration and solidarity in the business sphere of the Castellón port community, driven by the PortCastelló Foundation together with the Port Authority of Castelló, has met to coordinate, evaluate, and promote new joint corporate social responsibility (CSR) actions with the aim of continuing to build a more social, more human, and open port.
Within this framework, the working group, which already includes over forty collaborating companies and entities, among which terminal operators, shipping agents, freight forwarders, transporters, service companies, and concessionaires stand out, has agreed to hold the 1st CSR and Sustainability Conference of Cor del Port.
The event, scheduled for the first quarter of the year, will bring together non-profit organizations and NGOs that will showcase different ways of generating a positive impact on society with, among other initiatives, environmental outreach actions, talks-conferences, or an exhibition area where attendees can learn more about the volunteer actions of each entity.
The 'Cor del Port' thus ratifies the port community's commitment to social inclusion through collaboration with social organizations dedicated to improving the living conditions of vulnerable groups, while strengthening the link between the port and the city through a continuous program of cultural, educational, and coexistence activities focused on citizens.
Regarding the balance of actions carried out during the first half of the year, activities focused on different strategic areas such as health and emotional well-being —through awareness talks given by the Teléfono de la Esperanza de Castellón—, and marine sustainability, specifically coastal clean-up days, the fight against 'basuraleza' (litter in nature), and alliances such as the sponsorship of projects with the Libera Project by SEO/BirdLife.
The session also served to establish the lines of action for upcoming initiatives and to give visibility to the work carried out by local entities such as the Le Cadó Foundation and the Association of Parents of People with Autism of Castellón (APNAC), integrating their proposals into the port's social agenda.
The PortCastelló Foundation emphasizes the importance of giving continuity to these joint working spaces, understanding social responsibility not as a set of isolated actions, but as a model of continuous alliances aimed at responding in a coordinated manner to the environmental and social challenges of the province.
With this initiative, the PortCastelló Foundation and the Port Authority reaffirm their vision of PortCastelló as an infrastructure that, in addition to acting as an economic and development engine, acts as an active agent in favor of inclusion, sustainability, and the social well-being of its environment.
