The Port of Málaga concluded a particularly significant week for the logistics sector today, following its participation in Fruit Attraction.
The day began with the third edition of Málaga Fruit Day at the Rectorate of the University of Málaga, focusing on the prospects of international fruit and vegetable trade and the port's role as a gateway for perishable goods from Latin America.
During the meeting, issues such as geopolitical evolution and its influence on foreign trade were discussed, specifically regarding Málaga's potential to strengthen trade flows between Latin America and European markets.
The President of the Port Authority, Carlos Rubio Basabe, highlighted that "we have the presence of exporting companies from Chile, Peru, and Costa Rica, as well as the main business owners from Axarquía who, in turn, export throughout Europe and have deep knowledge of subtropical product transportation."
As a novelty this year, following the professional conference, the Port of Málaga is celebrating the 1st Logistics Fest, a unique gathering that brings together over 120 companies and public organizations and nearly 500 professionals dedicated to the maritime-port sector, including participants from South America.
This event, held at the Gutiérrez del Palmeral restaurant, aims to foster professional relationships in a relaxed atmosphere, combining collaboration and networking opportunities with traditional Málaga gastronomy, as well as to give visibility to the Port Community as a driver of employment and the economy of the province and the region.
The initiative is born with the aim of becoming a benchmark annual event for the Port Community and strengthening ties between the various agents involved in the logistics chain, addressing the main challenges in this area.
The organization of this event was made possible thanks to the commitment and support of: Autoridad Portuaria de Málaga, MSC, Grupo Cycle, Reyes Gutiérrez, Surlogist, Vision Harbor, Verosa, Kalmar, Greenworld Desarrollos, Adecco, Baleària, Bernardino Abad, Unicaja, FACCSA + PROLONGO, RUSA Málaga, Intercruises Port Operations, UCC, Rover Maritime SI, Cabeza Marítima, S.L., Famadesa, Noatum, ACEMAR, Eurogate Group Terminals, Servimad Global, Estimalaga, Olistock, and Noatum Maritime.
In 2025, the port facility reached a total traffic of 5.6 million tons, which represented a new historical record and made it, for the second consecutive year, the fastest-growing port in the Spanish port system in terms of cargo movement.
The evolution of import and export traffic stands out particularly, growing by 50.2%, mainly driven by the increase in exports.
This progress was accompanied by an improvement of over 30% in international connectivity, with regular lines connecting Málaga with Europe, Africa, North America, and Asia, reinforcing its position on the main maritime routes.
