The Port Authority of Vigo has presented a new software application aimed at optimizing the flow of the container transport sector at the port terminal to the port's main container transport companies, the most representative sector associations—ASETRANSPO and APETAMCOR—, and representatives of the Port of Vigo Container Terminal (TERMAVI).
Named VIGOAP TRUCK, this tool has been entirely developed by the technical services of the Port Authority of Vigo and provides real-time daily traffic forecasts for the Container Terminal, fed by information directly provided by transport companies.
Key Benefits of the Tool
Thanks to this continuous exchange of information between the different actors in the logistics chain, the Container Terminal will be able to adapt and size its resources and organizational means according to the anticipated influx of trucks, reinforcing service during days and periods of higher activity.
Similarly, transport companies will be able to adjust their trip scheduling and avoid peak traffic times, significantly mitigating the traffic peaks that usually occur during rush hours in periods of high port activity.
