The Port Authority of Almería (APA) has tendered the renovation of the gangways for four access ramps used for passenger transit during vessel embarkation and disembarkation operations at the Port of Almería. Following the installation of a new gangway at Ribera II Dock and the award of the mobile gangway or finger at ramp 2, the APA continues its planned schedule through two tenders, one for the works corresponding to gangways 2 and 3 and another concerning gangways 4 and 5.
The objective of renovating the existing facilities, approximately 30 years old, is their modernization and the improvement of service quality for passengers using the Port of Almería for their connections to Melilla, Morocco, and Algeria.
Among other issues, the works aim to improve accessibility conditions, increase the thermal and environmental comfort of users by executing a new enclosure that protects against solar radiation, wind, and other external agents; standardize the image of the port complex, adapting the gangways to recent actions carried out in other port infrastructures, and adapt the infrastructure to the current needs of passenger traffic, especially in relation to the increase in calls by larger capacity vessels.
These actions will extend the useful life of the existing infrastructure, preserving some of the load-bearing structural elements, optimizing available resources, and reducing the economic and environmental impact of the intervention.
The base tender budget for the renovation of gangways 2 and 3 is 1,893,958.17 euros (VAT included), while the execution period is six months from the signing of the site verification act. The deadline for submitting offers is November 3rd.
Regarding the work on gangways 4 and 5, whose base tender budget is 1,296,003.81 euros (VAT included) and a total execution period of twelve months, distributed in two phases of six months, before and after Operation Strait Crossing 2027.
The Port Authority of Almería has awarded Talleres Milán, for 1,079,804 euros (VAT included), the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of a mobile gangway or finger for passenger transit to vessels at ramp 2, a connection that will link the elevated galleries of the Maritime Station with the ferry gates at pier 2 in Ribera I Dock.
The execution period for the work, including supply and installation, will be eight months and must be fully operational before Operation Strait Crossing 2027.
