The Port of Eivissa is preparing for a very special day on October 17. Under the slogan "Viu el port" (Live the Port), the Balearic Port Authority will open the port facilities to the public with a program of more than 60 activities and the participation of over 30 collaborating entities, which will fill different areas of the port with proposals for all audiences throughout the day.
The event, which will take place from 10 AM to midnight, aims to bring the port closer to citizens and showcase the great diversity of activities, services, professionals, entities, and spaces that are part of Eivissa's port life. An opportunity to discover the port from a different perspective and for citizens to feel it as their own.
The program includes cultural, family, sports, environmental, and educational proposals, as well as activities related to the maritime world and the services that operate in the port. Among the proposals will be demonstrations by security and protection forces, with vehicles, drones, and a canine unit; activities for discovering the sea and posidonia; environmental awareness proposals; family and children's activities; musical and dance performances; traditional Balearic folk dance (ball pagès) and shows for all audiences.
It will also be possible to learn about Eivissa's heritage through a 3D virtual visit to the Puig des Molins necropolis, which will allow visitors to approach this important archaeological site in an immersive way.
The day will also include talks and outreach activities, with the participation of different specialists and communicators, as well as proposals related to marine research, sustainability, culture, and the traditions of Eivissa.
Citizens can also become protagonists of the day through a photography contest open to everyone. On October 17, participants must post an image of the Port of Eivissa related to the event on social media with the hashtag #ConcursViuelPortEivissa. The three photographs with the most "likes" will be the winners of the contest. An initiative that invites participants to look at the port with different eyes and share their own vision of this space.
The day will reach its peak in the afternoon, when es Martell will become the setting for the grand finale. A drone show will lead into a Flower Power party, which will bring music, color, and atmosphere to the final stretch of the day until midnight.
One of the highlights of the day will be the popular charity paella that will be held at the fishing pier. The ticket, priced at 5 euros, will include a plate of paella, a drink, and dessert, and the proceeds will go to ASPANADIF, the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Disabilities of Eivissa and Formentera.
ASPANADIF is a non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families, promoting their autonomy, social inclusion, and equal opportunities.
The proposal aims to make the meal another meeting point of the day and, at the same time, support the work carried out by this association.
One of the attractions of the day will be the possibility of moving between the different spaces where the activities will take place free of charge. Throughout the day, the City Boat, the EU9 bus, and the electric train will connect the port from the Botafoc maritime station to the sa Riba square, facilitating participants' travel between the different points of the day.
The program has the participation of more than 30 collaborators, including public bodies, companies, associations, and entities linked to the port and Eivissa society.
All activities of the day are free, except for the charity paella, and some of them require prior registration. The complete program, schedules, activity locations, and all information about registrations can be found at viuelport.com.
With "Viu el port," the Balearic Port Authority wants to invite citizens to enter, discover, and enjoy a space that is part of Eivissa's life and that, during this day, will become a great meeting point.
