Marflet Marine Installs eSAIL Sails on Chemical Tanker Santiago I

bound4blue completed the installation of four 22-meter eSAIL suction sails on Marflet Marine's Santiago I, positioning the Spanish shipowner as a pioneer in wind-assisted propulsion. The 49,999 DWT chemical tanker, after work at EDR Antwerp Shipyard and IMC Shipyard in Zhoushan, China, will reduce its annual energy consumption by 10% to 15%. The technology will contribute to compliance with EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime.
