Gondan Shipbuilders reached a new historic milestone at its facilities in Figueras, Spain, with the launch of the new 513 OESV for the Norwegian shipowner Ostensjøo Rederi A/S. This is the largest vessel built by the shipyard and was designed by the Norwegian firm Salt Ship Design.
With this new unit, a total of 23 vessels have now been built for this Nordic shipowner, with whom the shipyard has maintained a relationship for over 20 years.
"From Astilleros Gondan, we want to express our most sincere gratitude to Ostensjo Rederi for their continuous trust throughout these two decades, a collaboration that has allowed both companies to lead innovation in the offshore maritime sector," the firm stated in a public declaration.
The 513 OESV (Ocean Energy Support Vessel), measuring 120 meters in length and 23 meters in beam, was designed to excel in a wide range of complex operations on a single operational platform.
Among its many capabilities, the vessel is prepared for safe personnel transfer (W2W), CSOV wind farm support operations, offshore construction, subsea installations, inspection operations with ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle), and cable laying and repair.
Following the launch, the vessel will undergo its final outfitting phase afloat and subsequent sea trials in the coming months, with delivery scheduled for late 2027.
