The second edition of 'Oeste en Juego' will once again transform El Arbeyal beach into a meeting point for sports practice and its benefits. The event, sponsored by the Port Authority of Gijón and organized with the Gijón Oeste Sports Foundation (FUNDEGO), will feature a program aimed at bringing the public closer to the different sports disciplines developed by the clubs that are part of the foundation: Calzada Rugby Club, Club Baloncesto L'Arbeyal, Club Balonmano La Calzada, Club Deportivo Judo La Calzada, Club Patín Solimar-Telecable Hockey, Club Rítmica Galaica, and Club Voleibol La Calzada.
These seven entities bring together more than 1,000 athletes and carry out significant sports and social activities in the western neighborhoods of Gijón.
The Port Authority's involvement in this initiative is part of its commitment to open the port to the public and, especially, to the surrounding neighborhoods. "We believe that one of the best ways to achieve this is by supporting entities that promote the values of grassroots sports and their impact on education, coexistence, and healthy living; in this sense, the work carried out by the seven clubs that make up FUNDEGO aligns perfectly with this objective," said the president of the Port Authority of Gijón, Nieves Roqueñí.
During the event, which will be held at El Arbeyal Beach between 10 AM and 2 PM, attendees will be able to watch different exhibitions and participate in the various sports disciplines represented by the clubs. In addition, all those who complete the circuit through the seven sports areas will receive a specially produced t-shirt and will be able to participate in raffles for materials and other initiatives planned throughout the morning.
This second edition of 'Oeste en Juego' will have the collaboration of the General Directorate of Sports of the Principality of Asturias, the Gijón City Council, Caja Rural de Asturias, and Club Natación Santa Olaya.
