Expansion of the Salamanca Dry Port: 5 Million Euros in Infrastructure

The Salamanca Dry Port (Spain) has begun expansion works to increase its logistics capacity. The works are focused on building new infrastructure for unloading, transferring, and storing bulk goods.

According to reports, initially, two warehouses for storing cereals and fertilizers will be built, in addition to a warehouse intended for containers and general cargo.

Based on information from the Salamanca City Council, the Dry Port will be the only public railway terminal in the western peninsular area with the capacity to handle solid bulk goods (cereals and fertilizers).

Ultimately, the new infrastructure will cover an area of 88,000 square meters, where trains up to 750 meters long can enter, with a storage capacity of up to 900 TEU. The facilities will be equipped with four large weighbridges for trucks.

According to the projection of local authorities, when the expansion is operational, the Dry Port will be able to mobilize around 700,000 tons of goods per year.

The expansion works are estimated to cost 5 million euros, which will be subsidized by the Junta de Castilla y León.
