Maersk informed its customers that it has developed an operational plan to address a temporary disruption of rail service at the Port of Valencia. According to the company's announcement, the port facility will be subject to civil works that will affect the flow of trains.
"These works are expected to begin on September 25 and last until November 7, unless there are delays or changes to the planned schedule," the Danish company detailed.
In this context, Maersk decided to use an external terminal as a hub for some of its rail services. The designated facility is the Silla Intermodal Railway Station, located about 20 kilometers from the Port of Valencia.
"The proposed solution involves using a truck shuttle service to transport containers from the Port of Valencia to Silla and vice versa, where trains will be loaded and unloaded," explained the shipping company.
The option includes an additional cost of USD 160.7 per container. However, there is also the possibility of using direct truck transport.
