A delegation from the port of Castellón, led by its president, Rubén Ibáñez, is attending the International Cersaie fair this week to show its support for the ceramic sector, strengthen relationships, and hold institutional meetings. In addition, the Port Authority of Castellón has organized an event in Rimini with the port community to celebrate Tecna 2026, the largest international exhibition of machinery and technology for surfaces and ceramics.
The delegation participates in both events with data that reflect the link between the port of Castellón and the ceramic sector: so far this year, the traffic of raw materials directly linked to the manufacture of tiles totaled 3,881,128 tons, representing a growth of 15.1% compared to the same period in 2025 (when 3.37 million tons were recorded). This increase in solid bulk traffic consolidates the position of the port of Castellón as the main logistical gateway for the supply of the industry.
By product type, the performance of kaolin stands out, experiencing a rise of 41.6%, reaching 732,810 tons compared to 517,211 in the previous year. Likewise, feldspar, the largest volume raw material in PortCastelló, grew by 12.5% to reach an accumulated 2,434,452 tons. Meanwhile, grouped clays maintain stability with 640,004 tons (+0.70%).
Overall, adding solid bulk and maritime traffic of tiles, frits, and enamels, the movement of ceramic goods amounts to 4,362,911 tons until August 2026. This figure represents 32.5% of the total traffic of the port of Castellón so far this year (13.4 million tons), and revalidates the strategic importance that the port-industry alliance has for the provincial economy.
The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez, pointed out that these data reflect "the solidity of the alliance between the port and the ceramic cluster, a strategic binomial on which we will continue to pour investments in infrastructure, digitalization, and efficiency."
He added that the figures show that the port of Castellón is "the entry port for the sector's raw materials" and in this regard, he insisted on the need to "also be the exit port for the finished product." "PortCastelló is responding with maximum logistical and intermodal efficiency to ensure that the productive fabric has the best infrastructure and competitive prices to continue leading international markets."
Rubén Ibáñez stated that "I do not understand the province of Castellón without ceramics, but I also do not understand ceramics without the port of Castellón."
