Ecuador and Peru proposed a trade cooperation agenda during the XVIII Ecuadorian-Peruvian Binational Cabinet, held in Lima. The proposal seeks to modernize border procedures and boost service exports, strengthening economic integration between both countries.
Among the planned measures, the implementation of the digital certificate of origin during the first half of 2027 stands out, along with the progressive incorporation of electronic phytosanitary and zoosanitary certificates. These initiatives will streamline customs processes, improve merchandise traceability, and strengthen security in commercial operations.
Peru is a relevant market for Ecuadorian non-oil exports, which reached USD 611 million in 2025. The digitalization of procedures and the review of the tax framework could expand commercial opportunities, reduce operational barriers, and strengthen logistics and production chains between both countries.
