Portonave reported that a new stage of the pier adaptation and reinforcement works has been completed with the delivery of an additional 250 meters of renovated structure, totaling 700 meters of operational pier. The new section was inaugurated with the simultaneous operation of the vessels CMA CGM Thorium and Mercosul Suape.
From now on, vessels can be served simultaneously, without having to wait for a berthing position to become available. The result is greater operational agility, increased efficiency in meeting shipowners' schedules, and better utilization of the terminal's infrastructure.
The improvements also prepare the pier for the implementation of a shore power supply structure, eliminating fuel consumption by vessels during their stay at the terminal.
The Pier Adaptation Project is part of a plan focused on efficiency and sustainability that, together with the new machinery, exceeds R$ 2 billion. The equipment alone represents approximately R$ 500 million in 100% electric units.
