*Trash, waste, and sediment were removed from drains, sewers, and grates at various points in the city.
With the purpose of preventing floods in urban areas and protecting Manzanillo families during the rainy season, personnel from the Ecology area of the National Port System Administration Manzanillo (ASIPONA) carried out cleaning tasks this Sunday on the storm drain infrastructure located in the vicinity of the port.
The actions included the removal of trash, plastic waste, and sediment accumulated in sewers, drains, and grates, in order to maintain the free flow of rainwater.
The work was carried out on the grates located on Paricutín, Monte Himalaya, Cerro del Toro, Los Andes, and Dolores Hidalgo streets. Additionally, Floodgate 2, located in the Tapeixtles lagoon, was cleaned.
Similarly, the drains on Francisco Villa street were addressed, as well as the grates on Iturbide and Juan de la Barrera streets. Work was also carried out under the San Pedrito bridge, on Teniente Azueta avenue, on Venustiano Carranza street, in the Burócrata neighborhood, and on Juárez street.
Finally, the same activities were carried out on the boulevard stretch between Tapeixtles and Barrio 1 of Valle de las Garzas.
At the end of the day, all the serviced infrastructure was free of materials that could obstruct the passage of water and cause puddles or floods.
With these actions, ASIPONA reaffirms its commitment to public safety through preventive maintenance of the storm drain infrastructure, which helps reduce risks during the rainy season.
