The National Port Authority (APN), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, through its Unit for the Management of Alternative Dispute Resolution Systems, participated on April 29 and 30 in the XX International Arbitration Congress, held in the city of Lima.
The event, organized by the Peruvian Institute of Arbitration, featured prominent international experts, including representatives from Chile, Mexico, Spain, France, and the Netherlands; with the central theme of the event being 'Substantive and Procedural Issues in Arbitral Jurisdiction'; which served as a space for the APN to present its Specialized Arbitration Center in the maritime and port sector, where it explained its scope.
It is important to highlight that this congress included a panel on specialized arbitration in the maritime and port sector, being the first event that has allowed arbitrators with international experience to learn about the policy of using specialized alternative dispute resolution methods in the port sector, promoted by the Peruvian State, through the APN.
It should be noted that, in accordance with the National Port System Law, the APN's attributions include promoting and establishing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms between operators and users of the port system.
In this context, the APN promotes its Arbitration Center, inaugurated in 2025, which has a body of arbitrators with extensive and recognized national and international experience, consolidating itself as a specialized and reliable mechanism for resolving disputes in the maritime-port field.
Similarly, the APN makes its Conciliation Center available to users, reaffirming its commitment to promoting efficient, timely, and technically specialized solutions.
