The South Container Terminal of the Port of Callao, operated by DP World Callao, projects a historic milestone by the end of this year: moving over 2 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). This record figure will solidify the terminal's position as the main driver of maritime commercial exchange in the country.
This sustained growth is the result of continuous investments in state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment. Currently, the terminal boasts a deployment of 10 high-productivity gantry cranes, each recording an average performance of 28 containers per hour. This capacity allows for optimizing vessel service times and strengthening the efficiency of the entire logistics chain.
Growing Capacity: Thanks to recent expansions, the South Dock now has a dynamic capacity of 2.3 million TEUs, which guarantees the necessary support to meet the growing demand for cargo and enhance the competitiveness of the National Port System.
As the sector authority, the National Port Authority (APN), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting private investment and the adoption of new technologies. The objective is clear: to continue strengthening the country's port infrastructure and consolidate Peru as the undisputed strategic hub for international trade in the region.
