Houthi Attack Kills Four Crew in Red Sea; U.S. Missile Strike Reported in Gulf
Four crew members—three Pakistanis and one Indonesian—were killed in a Houthi attack on the Egyptian-owned cargo ship Tihamah in the Bab el-Mandeb strait on Tuesday, marking the first deaths in a Houthi strike since February 28. Separately, the Panama-flagged container ship Vela Nova was struck by a U.S. Hellfire missile off Pakistan in the Gulf of Oman, reportedly the 12th vessel attacked by U.S. forces since April. Shipping through the Red Sea has fallen more than 50% since Houthi attacks began in 2023-25, with only 32 ships per day passing through last week versus 50 before the blockade.
