Ecuador Moves 15.5 Million Tons Through Panama Canal

Ecuador ranks ninth among the largest users of the Panama Canal, with 15.5 million long tons mobilized in 2025: 9.8 million in imports and 5.7 million in exports. The volume registered an 18.3% increase compared to the previous year. As of September 4, 2026, the Canal Authority reduced the daily vessel transit from 36 to 32 due to drought and possible El Niño conditions.
