Dar es Salaam Port achieves 90% reduction in cargo discharge time
DP World Dar Es Salaam reduced cargo discharge times by more than 90%, from over 300 hours to under 28 hours, since commencing operations in April 2024. The port received M/V RAMHAN, the longest vessel at 240 metres length overall ever to call at the terminal, discharging 779 car equivalent units in just over 27 hours. The transition to Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC) operations has strengthened the port's position as a competitive trade hub in East Africa, with more than 2,900 Tanzanians employed at the terminal.
