Peru and Chile Request Spanish Interpretation at SPRFMO Meetings
Fishing leaders from Peru and Chile urged the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO) to address the lack of simultaneous Spanish interpretation at the Scientific Committee (SC14) meeting in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. Alfonso Miranda Eyzaguirre, president of Calamasur, pointed out that SPRFMO manages fisheries from which approximately 99% are caught off the coasts of Ecuador, Peru, and Chile, Spanish-speaking countries that require equitable participation in decisions regarding jumbo squid.
