IMO Maritime Safety Committee Convenes in London to Discuss Safety and Secu
IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez opened the 111th session of the Maritime Safety Committee, bringing together 176 Member States from 18 to 22 May. Key agenda items include adoption of the first non-mandatory Code for autonomous ships, maritime security enhancements, and a safety regulatory framework for alternative fuels. The Committee will address challenges in the Strait of Hormuz, where 38 verified attacks, 11 seafarer fatalities, and approximately 20,000 stranded seafarers have been reported.
