The Government of Ecuador, through the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments, and Fisheries, established the first Executive Board for the Tuna Sector in Manta, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors. This initiative is part of the Productive Development Strategy and the Competitiveness Policy, aimed at boosting one of the country's main export activities.
This permanent dialogue platform will allow for the identification of the industry's main challenges and their transformation into actions focused on improving productivity, increasing competitiveness, and promoting new investments. The board brings together government representatives and stakeholders from the tuna value chain to drive solutions that favor export growth and the strengthening of Ecuador's exportable supply. According to figures from the Central Bank of Ecuador, tuna exports recorded a growth of 22.2% by April 2026.
The strengthening of the tuna industry represents an opportunity to increase the added value of Ecuadorian exports and consolidate their international competitiveness. Coordination between the public and private sectors will drive improvements in production processes, optimize logistical efficiency, and strengthen the operational capacity of ports, supporting more dynamic and sustainable maritime trade.
