(5:11 p.m. EDT) — Royal Caribbean International has canceled the March 7, 2027, sailing of Allure of the Seas due to a full-ship charter.
Guests were notified by email that the cruise would no longer operate as scheduled.
The ship has been chartered by Atlantis Events for its 2027 all-gay cruise, sailing from Miami, March 7 to 14.
Affected guests have the option of transferring their booking to the similar March 21 Allure of the Seas itinerary, which sails round-trip from Miami, with stops in Nassau, Falmouth and Perfect Day at CocoCay.
The cruise line is also offering onboard credit for the replacement voyage.
The cancellation prompted a discussion on Cruise Critic message boards, with some guests sharing their experiences regarding compensation and rebooking.
One member said they contacted Royal Caribbean immediately to keep their original stateroom, writing: "I wanted to be sure that we got the same room we already had booked on March 7 so I called as soon as I got the notice."
Another cruiser said they were worried about being reassigned to a different cabin: "Yes, they will just start plugging reservation numbers into a list of cabins by category and I'll end up in an inside cabin in one of the packed in cabin clusters that resemble a cubical farm at some Dilbert office hellscape."
Others were more concerned about compensation: "Has anyone had any luck calling RCI and getting them to give some sort credit? I'm seriously not wanting to cruise with them again at this point if they give no compensation," wrote bandjwayne.
Yet some were frustrated this is happening again: "This is the second time Atlantis has chartered a cruise that I was on," said RFerrington.
