HX Expeditions and its education partner, the University of Tasmania, launched a free online Alaska course for booked passengers.
It encompasses four modules, each taking around 30 minutes to complete.
People who complete the course earn a Certificate of Attendance, while HX Explorers, its loyalty members, earn points.
It follows the HX-UTAS Antarctica pre-departure course launched in October.
The course is designed by the same experts who plan the voyages, alongside researchers from the University of Tasmania's Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies.
It is a practical companion to the expedition experience, helping travellers understand how Alaska's glaciers, coastline, marine system, wildlife and culture connect and how responsible tourism can support more mindful exploration of one of the world's most remarkable regions.
'By giving guests the chance to learn before they travel, we are helping them arrive not just excited, but informed, curious and ready to engage more deeply with every experience on board and ashore,' Verena Meraldi, HX's chief scientist, said.
Vanessa Lucieer of the University of Tasmania's Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies said the Alaska course shows how education can enrich travel while strengthening understanding of fragile and culturally significant environments.
'As a university recognised globally for climate action, we are proud to work with HX to translate research and sustainability insight into accessible learning that helps travellers approach Alaska with greater awareness, curiosity and respect,' Lucieer said.
The Alaska launch marks the first phase of HX's expanded university-backed learning programme, with future courses planned for Arctic Canada, Greenland, Iceland, the Northwest Passage and Svalbard.
