Jennifer Vandekreeke is the new MD experiences and attractions for Journey Beyond, which operates 22 brands across Australia and New Zealand, including iconic trains The Ghan which runs between Adelaide and Darwin via Alice Springs and the Indian Pacific, which links Sydney and Perth via Adelaide.
Michigan-born Vandekreeke was sent to 'check out Australia' in September 2010 by then Carnival Cruise Line CEO Gerry Cahill. She stayed to launch and run CCL's international operation in Australia in 2011.
Carnival Spirit arrived in Sydney for the first time in October 2012 and Carnival Legend arrived to operate its first extended season in Australia in September 2014. A third ship — the 3,900-passenger Carnival Splendor — arrived in December 2019.
Vandekreeke departed her role as VP and GM Australia for CCL in 2021 and took up the position of executive GM customer, NRMA Expeditions, the tourism arm of Australia's National Roads and Motorists Association, owner of Cairns-based Coral Expeditions.
Most recently she was CEO of URBNSURF (urban surf), a company developing surf parks in non-coastal areas.
