The Mitsui Ocean Sakura will offer 29 cruises during its inaugural season, according to a press release issued by Mitsui Ocean Cruises.
The 2010-built ship is set to make its debut for the Japanese company on September 19, 2026, having completed its final cruise for Seabourn earlier this year.
For its first sailing, the former Seabourn Sojourn will sail from Yokohama for a five-night debut cruise that will feature visits to Toba and Hidaka.
Mitsui Ocean said that the vessel's maiden season extends through late December and includes multiple short cruises.
The company added that the Sakura will follow in the footsteps of the Nippon Maru, which was retired this May, offering one- to three-night cruises to popular ports in Japan.
According to the statement, the deployment was designed to cater to a wide range of demographics and includes special fall sailings, as well as a Christmas cruise.
Mitsui added that the itineraries also offer half-day shore excursions at multiple ports of call at no extra charge.
As part of its maiden season, the Sakura will offer itineraries departing from Yokohama, Tokyo, Kobe, Hakata, Kanazawa, Niigata, Nagoya and Hiroshima.
In addition to short cruises, the deployment features a nine-day voyage that takes place in late December and celebrates the New Year at Sea.
The itinerary sails roundtrip from Kobe and includes a call to Ishigaki, in addition to an overnight visit to Keelung in Taiwan.
Currently being prepared for its maiden voyage for Mitsui, the Sakura completed its final cruise for Seabourn in Vancouver in mid-May.
The 450-passenger ship then embarked on a transpacific cruise before arriving in Yokohama later that month.
Built at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Italy, the Sakura originally debuted as a sister to the Seabourn Odyssey, which was also sold to Mitsui and now sails as the Mitsui Ocean Fuji.
