The MSC Opera has commenced its summer interporting season at Lisbon Cruise Port following completion of its winter operations in South Africa. The 2,160-passenger vessel is now deploying a series of ten-night itineraries across the Western Mediterranean and Atlantic regions.
The ship's routes connect multiple embarkation points across four countries. Passengers can board at Lisbon, Genoa, Marseille, and Alicante, with additional port visits including Olbia in Sardinia, Mahón in Minorca, Málaga, and Cádiz.
From May through late September, the MSC Opera will operate 15 roundtrip cruises departing from Lisbon, supplemented by a repositioning voyage to Genoa. This schedule positions the vessel as a key asset for MSC's European cruise operations during the peak summer season.
The MSC Opera is scheduled to relocate to the Caribbean on a full-time basis in late 2026, where it will operate seven- and 14-night cruises to the Southern Caribbean from bases in the Dominican Republic and Martinique.
To maintain continuity in European operations, the MSC Sinfonia, a Lirica-class ship, will assume the ten-night itineraries to Portugal, Italy, Spain, and France beginning in 2027. The Sinfonia will operate these routes between April and September, expanding MSC's regional presence by adding calls at Portimão in Portugal, Ceuta in Spain, and Tangier in Morocco.
In late 2026, MSC will introduce the MSC Fantasia, a larger 3,500-passenger vessel, to launch a new interporting season in Portugal. The ship will offer seven-night cruises to the Canary Islands departing from Funchal between December 15, 2026, and March 23, 2027.
The Fantasia's itineraries from Madeira Island will include visits to Arrecife de Lanzarote, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Puerto del Rosario. The company has confirmed the MSC Fantasia will return to the region for similar itineraries from Funchal during the 2027-28 winter season.
