Norwegian Cruise Line is changing six ports of call and its departure port for an itinerary set to be operated by the Norwegian Star starting on November 12, 2027.
According to a statement sent to booked guests, the cruise also features a new departure port and will now sail from Tarragona instead of Lisbon.
Initially scheduled to sail to the Canary Islands and Madeira, the original nine-night itinerary included visits to Funchal, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Arrecife, Agadir, Casablanca and Palma de Mallorca before ending in Barcelona.
As part of the change, the Norwegian Star is now set to visit destinations in the Western Mediterranean, sailing to new destinations in France, Italy and Malta.
Only the planned call to Palma de Mallorca was kept in the new itinerary, which now features stops in Marseille, La Spezia, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Salerno and Valletta.
In its statement, Norwegian said that the change of embarkation port was necessary due to port availability in Lisbon.
"Although we coordinate closely with port authorities to confirm every detail well in advance, operational conditions can change, and at times we're informed that space is no longer available," the company explained.
Norwegian added that, as part of this change, the cruise evolved into a Mediterranean-focused itinerary.
"This transition brings a new rhythm and perspective to the voyage, shifting from Atlantic and North African ports to a collection of historic Mediterranean cities celebrated for their culture, architecture and culinary traditions," the company continued.
"We understand that itinerary changes can bring disappointment, and we truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility," Norwegian added.
Completing its summer deployment in Europe, the Norwegian Star is scheduled to offer a ten-night cruise to the Canary Islands and Morocco before repositioning to South America for the winter in early December 2027.
