This comes as oil prices drop on US-Iran peace talks.
With crude oil prices declining, StarCruises and Dream Cruises announced relief from fuel surcharges.
For passengers sailing from Singapore and Malaysia, the surcharge is waived. Those sailing from Taiwan and Hong Kong will pay a 50% reduced surcharge.
These changes apply to sailings departing on or after June 26.
Most cruise operators resisted adding a fuel surcharge when the Middle East war broke out. However, StarDream Cruises would have been particularly impacted by the Strait of Hormuz closing since Asia imports 80% of its oil from the Arabian Gulf, according to the Council on Foreign Relations.
StarDream Cruises' surcharge began in March and varied by deployment.
For Star Voyager sailings departing from Singapore or Port Klang, for example, the charge was Singapore$15 (US$12) per person, per night, applicable to travelers 2 years and older.
"As fuel prices have continued to stabilize, we are pleased to reduce and, where possible, fully waive the fuel surcharge across our deployments," StarDream Cruises President Michael Goh said. "We have always taken a transparent approach to fuel surcharges, introducing them only when necessary and reviewing them regularly. As operating conditions improve, we believe it is important to pass these benefits on to our guests."
The company said it will continue to review its surcharge.
