TUI Cruises officially welcomed Mein Schiff Flow, its second InTUItion-class ship, to its fleet with a christening ceremony held in Trieste on June 20.
For the first time in TUI Cruises' history, three women acted as co-godmothers of a new ship.
Across the ship, guests could explore various events that were part of the christening ceremony, such as interactive art projects, audiovisual installations, acrobatics, music and other performances that were broadcast live.
The video of the christening ceremony can be viewed here.
"The christening of a new ship is always a very special moment full of emotion, pride, and anticipation," said Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.
"With the Mein Schiff Flow, we are expanding our fleet with a ship that represents a new way of traveling: marked by lightness, connection, and the feeling of traveling at your own pace. The fact that three godmothers are sharing this journey with us for the first time makes this evening a powerful symbol of the diversity and closeness that our guests associate with the Mein Schiff fleet."
Concerts by Rea Garvey on June 19 and Tim Bendzko on June 20 were the musical highlights.
Other performers from the fields of art, dance, health and lifestyle included Maren Kroymann, Christian Awe, Linh Nguyen, Tim Raue, and the dance couple Erich Klann and Oana Nechiti.
Fincantieri delivered the ship designed to operate on LNG propulsion to the cruise line at its Monfalcone shipyard earlier this month.
Originally meant to sail in the Arabian Gulf, Mein Schiff Flow is scheduled to sail a summer season in the Mediterranean, after which it will move to Hamburg in October and then head for Kiel and the Baltic Sea at the start of November.
