TUI Cruises has committed to supporting Familienschutzwerk eV again this year, directing its sponsorship efforts toward KidsAnker, a Hamburg-based outpatient children's and youth hospice service. The organization provides comprehensive support to families caring for chronically ill, dependent children, adolescents, and young adults facing life-limiting conditions.
The cruise operator's annual sponsorship initiative generated €66,000 in the previous year through combined efforts of guests and employees. According to Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, the company rotates its charitable focus annually: "With our sponsorship project, we support a different organization each year, which is selected by our colleagues. Throughout the year, employees and guests are involved in various activities for a good cause, such as the grand raffle as part of the internal year-opening event or the annual raffle onboard."
Phillip Schneider of Familienschutzwerk eV acknowledged the impact of this partnership: "The support is of great importance to our association and especially to the children."
The Berlin-based Familienschutzwerk eV focuses on children from difficult family circumstances through three core service areas. The organization's work encompasses a children's kitchen, life-saving interventions, and programs designed to fulfill children's wishes and aspirations.
Beyond meal provision, the children's kitchen serves as a protected community space where young people can recharge emotionally and develop through play-based learning. The association complements this with homework support, excursions, workshops, and varied afternoon programs featuring dance and sports courses.
TUI Cruises' sponsorship model relies on employee selection of the annual beneficiary organization. Staff and passengers participate in fundraising activities throughout the year, ensuring broad engagement across the cruise line's operations and guest base.
