(11:37 a.m. EDT) — Viking has welcomed its newest Nile River ship, Viking Ptah.
The delivery ceremony took place today at Massara shipyard in Cairo, Egypt.
"We are delighted to welcome the Viking Ptah to our growing fleet on the Nile River," said Leah Talactac, president and CEO of Viking.
"Egypt continues to inspire curious travelers from around the world, and with the addition of the Viking Ptah, we are pleased to offer even more guests the opportunity to explore this extraordinary destination in the comfort of a Viking vessel. Purpose-built for the Nile, our elegant sister ships provide an unmatched way to experience Egypt's rich history and cultural treasures."
The new Viking Ptah can accommodate up to 82 guests in 41 staterooms. It features the same Scandinavian design as its sister ships, including a distinctive square bow and an indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace.
Built to navigate the Nile River, Viking Ptah will sail the line's 12-day Pharaohs and Pyramids itinerary.
