Ukrainian authorities reported that the Russian drone attacked a cargo vessel in the Black Sea on 22 June, triggering fire and causing the death of one crew member.
According to the Ukrainian Navy Force, the Panama-flagged general cargo vessel Victress, with nine crewmembers from Egypt, Turkey, and India on board, was struck by a drone. The attack ignited a fire on board, prompting an emergency response.
Ukrainian naval forces launched a rescue operation, evacuating the crew on a lifeboat. One seafarer, a 58-year-old cook, died in the attack. The extent of the damage to the vessel was not immediately known.
Victress is a 1992-built vessel owned by a Turkish company. The vessel measures 74.9 meters in length and 11.4 meters in width. The incident occurred while the vessel was en route from Korfez, Turkey, to Sulina, Romania.
