Russian Attacks on Weapon-Carrying Ships in Ukrainian Black Sea Ports

Russian forces attacked two ships transporting weapons and military equipment to Ukrainian ports near Odesa, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Reuters could not independently verify the information.

The ministry later stated that they had also attacked a fuel storage facility in Odesa, two additional vessels in the Pivdennyi port area, and another ship northwest of Snake Island in the Black Sea.

The ministry claimed, without providing evidence, that all units were being used to transport military supplies to Ukraine.

Both Russia and Ukraine have intensified attacks on shipping in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov in recent weeks, which has driven up wheat prices.
