The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that its naval drone struck the Cameroon-flagged crude oil tanker Blue on 8 July off the Yalta coast in the exclusive economic zone of Ukraine.

The drone reportedly struck the vessel's stern, causing significant damage. SBU described the attack as a successful operation to systematically reduce the military-economic potential of the Russian Federation.
According to the SBU, the vessel is part of Russia's shadow fleet and has been sanctioned by the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Ukraine for allegedly transporting Russian oil in violation of international sanctions.
SBU added that targeting vessels linked to the shadow fleet forms part of its broader strategy to disrupt Russia's oil export revenues, which it said are used to finance the country's military operations against Ukraine.
Blue is a 2003-built crude oil tanker that measures 274 meters in length and 50.04 meters in width.
