UK Maritime Trade Operations received a report of an attack on a crude oil tanker, and triggered a fire off the Oman coast on 20 July. All the crew had abandoned the vessel with no casualties reported yet.

Maritime security consultancy EOS Risk Group identified the tanker as Kifan owned by Kuwait Oil Tanker. According to UKMTO, at around 20:10 UTC,the tanker issued a distress call after being hit by an unknown projectile around eight nautical miles northeast of Limah, Oman.
The impact ignited a fire in the engine room. All crew members safely abandoned the vessel, and no casualties have been reported. There were also no immediate reports of pollution or environmental damage resulting from the incident.
Kifan is a 2014-built crude oil tanker sailing under the flag of Kuwait. The tanker is 185.99 meters in length and 32.2 meters in width.
