The U.S. military disabled a second merchant vessel, Lavine, accused of attempting to breach the Iranian maritime blockade on 24 July in the Gulf of Oman. This marks the second vessel, disabled since the U.S. reinstatement of the naval blockade against Iran, following the Belma.

US Central Command spokesman Capt. Tim Hawkins told the Associated Press that U.S. forces disabled merchant tanker Lavine, which allegedly attempted to transit the restricted area on at least four occasions despite repeated warnings. After the crew failed to comply, US forces fired at the vessel's engine room, rendering it inoperable.
The vessel is no longer sailing towards Iran while the status of crewmembers and the condition of the vessel is yet not disclosed by the authorities.
Lavine is a crude oil tanker sailing under the flag of Mozambique that measures 329.99 meters in length and 60 meters in width.
