Baltic Hub Container Terminal signed an agreement with the EU Transport Projects Centre, securing USD 58 million in funding for the electrification and modernization of its container terminal in Gdansk.
The investment will focus on electrifying terminal operations, expanding railway infrastructure, and deploying advanced digital and monitoring systems. These measures will increase the terminal's capacity, improve the efficiency of intermodal transport flows, and reduce the environmental impact of operations. The program includes the acquisition of additional cranes for quays and yards, as well as a fleet of electric tractors and construction work related to the railway track platform.
The funding was granted under the 2025 call for intermodal transport projects within the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, and Environment (FEnIKS) 2021-2027 program.
"The signing of this agreement marks an important milestone in the development of Baltic Hub, in line with the PSA Group's Node to Network strategy. This investment will strengthen our position as a key port ecosystem in Central and Eastern Europe, while accelerating our transition towards more sustainable and efficient operations," stated Jan Van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub.
As one of the largest deep-water container terminals in Central and Eastern Europe, Baltic Hub plays a fundamental role in international supply chains and the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The project will benefit a wide range of stakeholders, including shipping companies, logistics operators, railway carriers, and customers throughout the region, by facilitating more efficient, reliable, and sustainable transport solutions.
The implementation of the program will be carried out in phases, with work expected to begin once procurement procedures are finalized.
