ABSA Cargo Begins Operations as Fourth Cargo Airline in Bolivia

With the arrival of a flight from Miami, United States, at Viru Viru International Airport, in Santa Cruz, the airline ABSA Cargo -a subsidiary of Latam Group- officially began its operations in Bolivia. This incorporation marked the entry of the fourth exclusive cargo airline into the country under the management of the Minister of Public Works, Services and Housing, Mauricio Zamora.

According to reports from the Bolivian state portfolio, the initiative aligned with the objective of President Rodrigo Paz's government to consolidate a full "open skies" policy, a strategy supported by the prior signing of various memorandums of understanding.

The inaugural landing was supervised on site by the Director of Air Navigation and Bolivian Airports (Naabol), Jaime Machicao, and the head of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), José Antonio Fanola.

ABSA Cargo established its operations using Boeing 767-300F aircraft, designed with a transport capacity of up to 55,000 kilograms. The inaugural flight (M3-8431) covered the Miami–Viru Viru route before continuing its route to Florianópolis, Brazil, registering an initial unloading of approximately 25,000 kilograms of goods destined for the Bolivian market.

In this regard, Minister Zamora highlighted that the arrival of this fourth specialized foreign operator significantly expanded the logistical alternatives for Bolivia's foreign trade, responding to the government's policy of strengthening international connectivity.
