A change in trend for freight rates, which are falling across the board after surpassing a seasonal summer peak that arrived earlier this year.
With the peak season momentum behind them and volumes remaining above expectations, prices seem to be changing direction.
Diesel prices increase by more than 6% just before the holiday exodus.
At least in the last week, a generalized downward trend has been detected, which would confirm that the seasonal summer peak has come early as a result of a situation dominated by uncertainty in the Middle East and the new wave of tariffs from the Trump Administration, although also more contained than at the beginning of the year and, therefore, more manageable for the markets.
In this context, Freightos estimates that rates have dropped by 13% over the last week on services from Asia to the US West Coast and have decreased by 1% on those arriving at the country's East Coast.
At the same time, prices have fallen by 3% on routes between the Asian country and Northern Europe, while they have dropped by 2% on journeys from the Asian continent to the Mediterranean.
