Hapag-Lloyd announced the immediate suspension of its cross-border land transport service from the Port of Jeddah, located in Saudi Arabia on the shores of the Red Sea, to the countries of the Persian Gulf.
The measure, which will remain in effect indefinitely, directly affects all booked goods destined for consignees located outside Saudi Arabia.
To mitigate the impact of this disruption on supply chains, the shipping company designed an alternative route for cargo bound for Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.
From now on, these goods will be diverted by sea to be transshipped at the Port of Khorfakkan, from where they will move by a land bridge to Sharjah and Jebel Ali to finally connect with their destinations via third-party feeder vessel networks.
Conversely, commercial flows destined for the Saudi industrial cities of Dammam or Jubail will not undergo any operational modification.
Hapag-Lloyd confirmed that these specific cargoes will continue to move with complete normality via the established Jeddah sea-land bridge land route.
The shipping company assured that its technical teams are continuously working on the development of new logistical options to optimize transport in the area and that it will immediately inform of any updates.
